Jon and Shirley Fischer
Serving in Quito, Ecuador, North Andean Field on Global Deployment | South America
Serving the countries of Colombia, Ecuador, and Venezuela as Work and Witness Coordinators for the North Andean Field.
After graduating from MidAmerica Nazarene College, Jon and Shirley found themselves settling into normal suburban life - Jon working as an accountant at a dry wall company and Shirley teaching school. Then Jon went on a Work and Witness trip and God started talking to him about missions. Through this trip God showed Jon that he not only wanted his money for missions from him but he also wanted his time and family to be involved. So they "stepped out on faith".
They volunteered as Missionaries in Volunteer Service for what they thought would be one year, but God had other plans. God had a much bigger plan. They volunteered in Venezuela for 8 years.
In 2001 they were appointed Global Missionaries to Venezuela. In December 2007 they moved from Venezuela where they were Work and Witness Coordinators and administrators of the Nazarene Campground, to Ecuador. Now they serve as the Work and Witness Coordinators for the Andean Field (Venezuela, Ecuador and Columbia).
They have two daughters who were both raised in South America until they went to MidAmerica Nazarene University in Olathe, KS. Michelle met Josiah Gould her freshman year and they were married in Sept. 2001. They have a son and their home is in Olathe, KS. Michelle works for The Foundry for the Nazarene Church in the marketing department. Josiah works for the JO CO Parks department as a policeman.
Krista is a graduate of MidAmerica Nazarene University and married Angel Sigui on July 27, '19. Krista and Angel both work at the Nazarene Global Ministry Center in Lenexa, KS. Krista works for Global Education and Clergy Development and Angel in Communications. They serve in the Hispanic worship team at Central Church of the Nazarene. They live in Overland Park close to family.
Some of the happiest times of our lives were during those eight years of volunteering. There were tough times, but they were times full of learning and growing in faith. We didn't know where the money to live on was going to come from or when it was going to come, but it always came. We could truly see the hand of God at work, and we still see his protecting hand over us. God's church family is so wonderful and we know that if we didn’t have you partnering with us in prayer the work would not go forth.

Going Where the Church is Not Yet
Today there are over 4.3 billion people who live in areas where there is little to no gospel witness. 4.3 billion people who have not heard the message of the gospel, who have never heard the name of Jesus. We believe that everyone deserves to hear. God continues to call the Church of the Nazarene to spread the message of the gospel, to preach holiness, and to bring good news to the poor all over the world. The task is enormous; far too big for anyone to do alone, but together we can go where the church is not yet and see people, communities, and nations transformed. Reaching these people begins with one step, a step of obedience and faithfulness that says yes to God’s call. Take your first step and start your journey toward serving in missions today.
